    Katasha Davis

    (, Oct. 28, 2019)
How important is it for children to be involved and knowledgeable when their parent has been diagnosed with a mental illness? It is very important and crucial that children be included in the hard talks. Children are affected by diagnosis in many ways. Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Manic Depressive Disorder, and Depression just to name a few, can affect children differently in a home. Think of a parent choosing not to take medication for any diagnosis mentioned. If they are unstable, how can a child be expected to remain stable, as well as understand the instability? Children play a vital role as being a part of their home environment. As a part of their family. Children can have many concerns, if not the same as adults. This book is just a tool to begin to have those hard conversations about parents who may suffer with a mental health illness. It is also a tool from a child's prospective, letting them know they are not alone.Taylor Marie is careful to ensure everything is perfect, never to upset her mommy. But something goes terribly wrong one day and her mommy is gone. Taylor thinks what could she have done wrong to make her mommy leave. Taylor is left with unanswered questions, sadness and really wants her mommy to come back home. Taylor's father tries to explain that with medication her mommy will be back home soon. Taylor still doesn't really understand, because her mommy doesn't look sick. But one day, Taylor Marie receives a big surprise!
